ENGLISH SUMMARY

This website presents the outcomes of a research project implemented by the civic association Rytmus in 2012 with the aim to create a virtual Model of inclusive education.

The Model is based on a case study carried out in a small Czech town with 25,000 inhabitants, four mainstream elementary schools and a special school. The goal of the modeling process was to visualize the material and personal resources necessary for the mainstream schools to be able to include all local pupils with disabilities currently attending the special school in town. Data on the needs of the actual pupils with disabilities were the starting point of the procedure – each pupil’s case was considered individually in the context of his or her needs and the mainstream school’s current conditions. On the higher level, the costs induced by the Model were compared to the current budget of elementary education in the town and to several possible funding schemes. The study found that approximately 60% of the funding needed by the mainstream schools to implement the Model was presently consumed by the special schools, however only about 15 – 30% is available to them according the current funding regulations.
